Inspired by hip-hop , Dunton uses a combination and unique mixture of traditional classical techniques with modern “hip-hop” rhythms to give a different urban feel to any repertoire. Great harmonic language and rhythmic intensity throughout the piece that gives it its popularity among high school groups in NYC. City Knights gives a great introduction to what wind band music can be to many inner city youth studying instrumental music, and it opens the door for them to express their creativity and energy.
